Green Acres: Chickens and a possum

It was a pretty busy day yesterday so I didn't have time to post this.

About 6 am, Saturday morning - the dogs were going ape shit, so I opened the door and let them out.

The chickens were cackling and Foghorn was doing his battle cry - so I put on my mudders (still in my nightgown) and ran outside with the spotlight.

I got to the coop and there were white feathers everywhere. I could see the netting to cover the one hole we have in the coop was moved. One of the white girls was on the hen house - visibly in shock.

I walked around and flashed the light into the limbs of the tree and saw the possum.... staring at me.

The dogs running outside must have freaked him out and he got out of the coop before I could get out there. Weeshy (the smallest alarm) was in the pasture looking for the culprit. In & Out was on the rabbit hutch - she knew something was going on - she just didn't know where. The other dogs were sniffing around, looking for the possum, too.

It's a Lifestyle: Reducetarian

I'm sitting in my office this morning doing some magazine maintenance (flipping through pages, finding stuff for my vision board, reading some articles, building a recycle pile). I have a subscription to "Cooking Light" magazine because I love to experiment in the kitchen. We're foodies and will try just about anything (at least once). I found this article in regards to a new healthy eating trend called "Reducetarian".

Think about how much meat you could possibly eat in one day.

An offer you can't refuse: Why I coupon

It's Sunday morning and I'm sitting in my office, getting prepared for the new week.

It's quiet in the house because the grand kids haven't arrived yet.

I started thinking about the reasons I coupon.

*** *** *** *** ***

I think why I coupon really comes down to 5 main reasons (in random order).

Seriously, what is normal?

Normal.

Seriously, what is normal?

According to Charles Addams

“Normal is an illusion. What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.”

***

According to dictionary.com - Normal is an adjective
1. conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural.
2. serving to establish a standard.

Then why do I feel like Normal is some Twilight Zone shit?

Green Acres: When the Well Runs Dry

We had a bit of a scare today. When we turned on the faucet, no water came out.

We live in the country and our block doesn't have access to city water. We depend on an underground spring for our water supply. We've got 2 water pumps in the front yard and 1 depends on the other for water.

Apparently, from what our neighbors have told us - the block sits on rock so getting a reliable water supply is kind of a big deal.

When you turn on the faucet and no water comes out - of course the worst case scenario comes to mind...

Real Food: Chicken Something

We are in the midst of our 2nd Advocare 24 Day Challenge. The first 10 days is a "cleanse" so the idea is to not eat anything processed.

You eat whole food meals. Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and complex carbohydrates.

That means eliminating particular foods (but not limited to):
